The annual “Princess for a Night” Father-Daughter Dance is held at the Marland Mansion in February. Several Hundred princesses dance the night away with their escorts to current and classic music, enjoy delicious refreshments and other entertainment at one of three sessions throughout the evening. Proceeds from the dance benefit the Kay County Council for the Opportunity Center.  Tickets and event t-shirts go on sale several weeks before the dance and can be purchased at Whimsy, 318 E. The Cherokee Strip Golf Classic

The Cherokee Strip Golf Classic, is a volunteer-driven, charitable golf tournament which began in 1961 with the sole purpose of raising money to help fund the Opportunity Center. All proceeds from The Strip go directly to the Opportunity Center Foundation. The Strip is an invitational, pro-am golf tournament comprised of approximately 44 teams, with each team consisting of 1 PGA Professional and 4 amateurs. The Strip is held at the Ponca City Country Club, and Wentz Memorial Golf Course. The entry fee covers 3 days of food and beverage (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for both the golfer and a +1. Participants play 3 days of golf (1 practice round & 2 tournament rounds) and receive entry gifts. Numerous social activities are available each day as well as a ladies golf tournament on the Thursday of The Strip.
